Adam Simpson, Team @YOURgb EVENTS Co-ordinator attends the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian:
@YOURgb had a brilliant morning looking around Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian hotel; with its recent re-launch following a £24million investment, it was a great opportunity to see this stunning hotel.
Located in the heart of Edinburgh, at the West End of Princes Street – Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian hotel is perfectly situated underneath the iconic Edinburgh Castle and surrounded by Tram stops, bus stops and in between Edinburgh’s two main train stations (Waverley and Haymarket).
I was fortunate enough to be shown around this impressive and timeless styled venue by the lovely Joanne Lindsay, who was incredibly informative about the hotel. It holds 241 rooms, with 4 categories of rooms (Deluxe rooms, premium rooms, premium castle view rooms, one bedroom suites); 8 meeting spaces, with the pinnacle of these spaces being the Castle Suite - holding up to 250 theatre style & 144 for a dinner dance. It is a stunning listed room, with large windows opening out onto a ‘money-can’t-buy’ view of Edinburgh Castle. The Castle Suite also has an adjoining room, which is a perfect location for pre/post receptions/coffee breaks throughout conferences. Finally there are 6 smaller breakout rooms within Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian hotel, all holding fantastic facilities for breakout sessions or smaller corporate group meetings.
My favourite feature of the Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian hotel was Peacock Alley. Previously the platform for an old railway station in Edinburgh, this lounge area still has the original clock and beautiful stonework to provide an additional piece of history to this amazing hotel. It is the perfect setting for afternoon tea or evening drinks.
This is such a beautifully diverse hotel, from the elegant French fine dining’s by Michelin-starred Galvin Brothers ‘The Pompadour by Galvin’ and ‘Galvin Brasserie de Luxe’ to the wide variety of events it can cater for, there is no question why it is part of the luxury flagship Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts brand. It has the unique features of the Castle Suite and Castle Lounge to hold a large-scale dinners, including an area for a pre drinks reception, easy accessibility and cloakroom. On the other hand, it would be perfect for a large conference of up to 150 people in the Castle Suite, using the Castle Lounge for refreshments.
An iconic venue, in an iconic city, with a stunning view of an iconic landmark.
