The DoubleTree by Hilton

Adam Simpson, Team @YOURgb Event Coordinator, says "they had me at cookie dough!"

The DoubleTree by Hilton, an 1892-listed building, has recently undergone a refurbishment and it was a hotel I had been eager to see for a while. The hotel offers all guests a warm chocolate chip cookie on arrival, a unique touch and a brilliant start! I was met by Valerie Mentiplay, the hotels warm and personable Director of Sales to show me around, who knew every inch of this stunning space.

This hotel boasts 138 newly refurbished rooms, which are very impressive and extremely detailed to suit the desire of customers attending for business or pleasure. With 6 Bedroom categories (Guest room, Double Guest room, King Deluxe room with Castle View, King Guest room, Twin Deluxe room with Castle View, Twin Guest room); two categories of stunning Suites (King Junior Suite with Castle View and King One Bedroom Suite with Castle View); and a third collection of rooms is the Accessible Rooms, categorised in two (King Accessible Deluxe room with Castle View and King Accessible Guest room). This is one of the great qualities of the hotel; it has the ability to cater for all different types of groups with a variety of bedroom choices.

The event spaces the hotel offers are equally brilliant. The DoubleTree by Hilton has two event spaces on the ground level of the hotel connected by a large communal space, which can be used as a welcome reception area - great forward-thinking used in the refurbishment. I feel one of the greatest features of this hotel is the use of technology to establish itself as a more contemporary venue; well thought out and equipped for all eventualities.

If you are looking for the ‘WOW’ factor, then look no further than the rooftop of the building.  This had to be my favourite venue of the hotel - The Sky Bar (or Penthouse Suite, as it is also known). It boasts one of the best views of Edinburgh Castle and the Edinburgh Skyline in the city; a true privilege to see and the USP of the hotel! The Sky Bar and Rooftop Balcony is ideal to host BBQs in the summer and provides the perfect Edinburgh Castle selfie opportunity for tourists!

Situated in a prime location just off Lothian Road at the back of Edinburgh Castle, within a 15-minute walk of both Waverly Station and Haymarket station, and only a 30-minute drive from Edinburgh Airport, it is a very accessible venue for locals and tourists.

The DoubleTree by Hilton is all about quality and it is difficult to pin point a specific type of event to take place here. The beautiful and well-equipped venue spaces are absolutely brilliant to cater for conferences to exciting dinner dances, the DoubleTree by Hilton is able to do it all – and to the highest level.
